Glossary
Short-term let registration
A national register for short lets in England, being introduced by the government.
What it means
The government is introducing a registration scheme for short-term lets in England, so councils and the government know where they are and hosts confirm they meet safety rules. At the time of writing it is not yet in force and the start date has moved, so check current rules. Scotland already requires a short-term let licence, and Wales is bringing in its own scheme.
Worked example
ExampleA rent-to-rent operator with three serviced flats in Leeds.
- Now
- No national register in force (check current rules)
- When it starts
- Register each unit before taking bookings
Budget for registration and keep fire, gas and electrical certificates ready to upload.
